Opportunities From: Rochester Museum & Science Center

On Halloween, we'll need help running activities and giving out candy at tables through the entire museum for Tricks & Treats, our trick or treating event for families. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Tricks & Treats Description:

Put on your favorite costume and visit the RMSC for some science tricks and delicious treats! Explore your favorite exhibits while stopping at trick or treat stations around the RMSC. Make slime, watch spooky science demos, and collect candy for some safe, Halloween fun.

As part of Summer @ The RMSC programming, STEM education volunteers lead interactive hands-on activities around science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) topics, igniting visitors’ curiosity and learning. Almost every weekend has a new theme.

They interact with visitors on the museum floor using prepared learning kits as teaching tools. STEM volunteers inspire unique learning experiences by encouraging visitors to predict, question, and iterate through activity experimentation.

STEM volunteers are knowledgeable about science, technology, engineering, or math, ready to add to their body of knowledge, and passionate about sparking enthusiasm about these topics with others.

Are you a nature, science, or history professional who is interested in leading a class, lecture, or guided hike at the Cumming Nature Center? We are always looking for more educators to offer a wider variety of workshops! By responding to this post, you are letting us know that you are interested in leading an educational program at the nature center. We will reach out to you shortly after for a meeting to see if it would be a good fit.

Our education volunteers help carry out one of the main goals of the Cumming Nature Center: to foster a love and respect for nature in people of all ages. Most of these volunteer opportunities take place during our Forest School and summer camp Programs. Volunteers must be willing to commit to a full day (6 hours) of Forest School. Our summer camps are more flexible but please note that we do not hold these programs every day so there is no guarantee that your availability will align with a volunteer opportunity. Additionally, volunteers should be comfortable with spending the majority of their time outdoors in all weather conditions.
